About 56 lakh property cards in Maharahstra to be ready in four months
November 01, 2017
PUNE: Nearly 56 lakh property cards of urban land parcels will be updated and data will be made available online.
This will be done by April next year, through a special drive undertaken by the settlement commissionerate and it will be funded by the state government.
The digitization of these cards will help ensure that buyer and seller get details of the property in question and the record of rights (a document to ascertain ownership title).
These documents will be linked with the registration department to ensure more transparency, said state settlement commissioner and director of land records S Chockolingam.
Under this programme, the cards will be made available online with the details of a change in title. The aim is to curb instances of fraudulent transactions and cheating.
Details such as the CTS number, plot number, area in sq mt, encumbrances and mutations, and present condition of the area and ownership will be mentioned in separate columns. Under the initiative, all the details will also be integrated with the stamp and registration department, according to Chockolingam.
“While data is available in digitized format till 2015, the restructuring and updation will be completed in the coming four months,” said Chockolingam.
The commissionerate is working out a “restructuring model” of the property card data, which will enable a new format from April 1. At present, the cards have all details under one paragraph. This will be restructured and put in separate columns to make online search easier.
