Big ticket projects get a push from state

THANE: Several big-ticket, vital transport and civic infrastructure projects for Thane worth hundreds of crores got a favourable push from the state government on Thursday helping the municipal corporation now strategize its execution.

Crucial projects like the Thane coastal road and Mulund-Ghodbunder foothill roads, Kalwa-Kharegaon link road, Thane city metro that could ease the traffic congestion were discussed with the state showing favourable response to them, informed an official present for the meet. The relocation of existing historic Thane jail also got a push from the panel of senior government officials that met in Mantralaya while the corporation was also asked to expedite work on the Kalyan-Vasai water way route.

The civic chief Sanjeev Jaiswal who made the presentation managed to convince the officials about the need for a better and improved infrastructure in Thane considering its growth in the future years. The meeting was chaired by guardian minister Eknath Shinde along with Principal Secretary, (chief minister’s office), Praveen Pardeshi, additional metropolitan commissioner Praveen Darade and Thane collector Rajesh Narvekar. Meanwhile, activists who welcomed the move suggested the state do a follow up of all works so that it doesn’t get stuck only on paper.
