Thane: Covid Centre To Be Made Cancer Hospital

Global Covid Hospital in Thane will soon be converted into a full-fledged cancer treatment facility, guardian minister "Eknath Shinde". announced on Sunday evening.

The announcement comes close on the heels of the moving a proposal before the general body to shut two field hospitals, Global Hospital and Kausa dedicated Covid health centre, citing falling cases and rising operating costs.

At a Shiv Sena function in Thane, Shinde said Global hospital, which was started as a quick-fix measure to tackle rising Covid cases last year, will soon be used to treat cancer patients from Thane and its suburbs. Shinde had recently hinted at the possibility of setting up the facility in collaboration with Tata Memorial Hospital.

Civic officials meanwhile said the facility at Parking Plaza and the quarantine centre at Bhayenderpada will continue.
